Hospitals

I like hospitals. I know a lot of people don’t. But I’m special. So here is why I like hospitals so dang much:

  1. They’re clean. Hospitals are germ-free, safe, clean, sterile places of medicine and healing.
  2. The food. I constantly hear people saying “Hospital food is ewwww” but that wasn’t the case for me at all. I was at hospital only a few weeks ago, and I got food better quality than most Woolworths. For morning tea, they gave me cheese that was just *mwah*, apple slices that were so crunchy and fresh, grapes that just popped beautifully in your mouth, and they gave it to me on a literal platter. When I woke up from the anaesthetic, there was a nurse there who asked me what I wanted to eat or drink. I said “tea”. And that cup of tea was probably the best I’ve ever had in my entire life that was made by a stranger. They also gave me pineapple jelly and DELICIOUS soft-serve ice-cream. The water didn’t even have that stale, plastic taste!
  3. You barely have to leave our bed (depending on why you’re in hospital of course). I was in hospital with a condition that meant I shouldn’t use my muscles a lot. This meant that I barely had to move or go anywhere for 2 days. I lay in bed with food delivered to me while reading and watching YouTube. The only times I had to move around was to go to the bathroom and walk around for a little bit to make sure all the chemicals in my body dissolved properly. When I left the hospital, I didn’t even have to walk. I got to ride in a wheelchair. The only downside was that they let me brother drive it (AARGH WHY). Even when I was home safe and sound, I didn’t have to leave my bed. My food was delivered to me, I had a water bottle on my bedside table, and I got to stay in bed watching Youtube, reading, and playing Minecraft. The only annoying part was that I wasn’t able to move by myself. Looking back at it now, that was absolute HEAVEN for a lazy person like me.
  4. Hospitals save lives. Every single day, a team of people in a hospital save at least one life. And not just lives. Sometimes they stop a crippling disability from becoming permanent, or delivering a life in the form of a baby.

So that is my tribute to hospitals. It’s in my blood to like them anyway. My grandad was a surgeon, my grandmother was a nurse, and I want to be a paediatrician when I grow up (along with everything else). So say what you will about hospitals. They freak people out, but not me. I am immune! (bad medicine joke. You’re welcome.)

Side note: sorry if this is not up to my usual standards. I wrote this the first time, and it was much longer and more detailed than this post. The only problem was that I tried to post it, and realised I wasn’t logged in, and I couldn’t recover the post, so AARGH. Sorry!

Bye bye! Also, if you’re really curious about my hospital experience and why I was there in the first place, tell me in the comments and I’ll post my story! Farewell!
