I think a lot of people end up going through a phase where they do online quizzes devotedly, day after day after day. But did anyone ever stop to think about them?
So… online quizzes are seriously creepy. You’re literally giving the internet information about you for a result that usually isn’t right. A lot of quizzes I’ve seen are like ‘what is your gender? How old are you?’ etc. and the people who go through the quiz phase don’t even consider the fact that they are giving away their information to a website that could lead to anything (like being KIDNAPPED).
I read an article about a 14 year old doing an online quiz that would SUPPOSEDLY tell her about her love life. Turned out, her mum was called up with a bill of over 1000 dollars because her daughter didn’t realise that the quiz was charging her for every prediction. CREEPY OR WHAT. With the number of quizzes see people do, if everyone who ever did a quiz was fined a dollar, whoever made the quizzes would be RICH AS HECK (as in like billions).
Personality quizzes. I reckon these are the most popular online quizzes for one stupid reason: people want to see who they are without having to judge themselves. I did quizzes once. I’m not gonna lie about it. But the majority I did where stupid and got me nowhere because the creators were too lazy to give me an answer except for ‘you’re unique!’. I literally took a screenshot every time I got that result, and ended up with a BEAUTIFUL collage of YOU DON’T FIT IN. Then I found another website where I actually got results (yay). But most of the time, my results were WAAAAAAY off. For example: I did a quiz to tell me what Disney Princess I’d be (don’t judge I was like 9) and for SOME REASON, ended up with CINDERELLA. The most ditzy stupid princess EVER TO LIVE (apart from Sleeping Beauty) WHO DIDN’T EVEN MAKE ANY DECISIONS TO STEER HER LIFE IN A GOOD DIRECTION. What. the. HECK. Another time, I did a quiz to tell me what type of princess I was. I received “you’re a pansexual girl who daydreams about being rescued from her tower”. Just-no. I would have rescued myself by the time anyone arrived to save me OBVIOUSLY.
The majority of websites I ever found led to really creepy messed up quizzes. One of the more innocent ones was ‘are you gay’. I did it. And it said I was straight. Just wow.
So that’s my rant about online quizzes. Do yourself a favour and NEVER DO ANY EVER. Thank you and goodnight.
